ALBUQUREQUE (KRQE) - The USDA is finally ready to inspect a proposed horse slaughterhouse in Roswell.

The attorney for Valley Meat Company says the inspection is set for next Tuesday.

The company has been working toward slaughtering horses since last year, but they've been faced with delay after delay.

They have also been faced with a tremendous amount of opposition.

The owner says the move will provide jobs and deal with the high number of abused horses in the United States.

  3. The only abused horses will be in his slaughter house... As if he cares about the welfare of these horses... The European market will not do business with the US....it's a tainted industry...
The beef industry should sue this man for all the negative publicity that horse meat is causing.....people are leery of eating any meat because of this scandal.. and jobs for who ? are they legals ? Where is the market for this ? Better yet who is backing this man ?

  4. This is really just ridiculous to have to allow these people to be inspected. His facility was shut down for cattle, so you know they will not do well with horses.
