PINECREST, Fla. - A Harlem Globetrotters star visited a South Florida elementary school with a basketball-playing miniature horse.
Kevin "Special K" Daley visited Palmetto Elementary School as a reward for it being named a designated "No Place for Hate" school.
"We were excited to hear that we were selected for this because we don't do these things for recognition," said Julie Astuto, a guidance counselor at the school. "We do it because we are trying to teach the kids to be respectful.
Amos the 12-year-old basketball playing miniature horse also made an appearance. His coach harnessed his love for the game despite his diminutive stature.
"He does other things, too," said Shelly Mizrahi, Amos' coach. "He plays a puzzle. He does bean bag toss, and he paints a little in his spare time."
"Amos is amazing," said Daley. "One thing I am not going to do with Amos is play horse against him. The game was named after him. There is no way I am going to play against him."
"He has his own Facebook account: Amos the Wonder Horse," added Mizrahi.
Amos can dunk and has a repertoire of post moves, including a Kareem-like sky hook. Local 10's Todd Tongen played Amos one-on-one, and remarked he could drive like LeBron James.
"He is smooth. He is like the Paul Pierce kind of just smooth but gets it done," said Daley.
