The Eighty-Dollar Champion
Here is a video about an inspiring story which shows you that when a horse becomes unusable to you, that slaughter is NOT a necessary choice. It's the story of Harry de Leyer and a horse he would name Smowman which he rescued from the back of a slaughterhouse bound truck. Harry bought him for only $80.00 because he saw a spark in his eye while Snowman was on the truck. Harry trained the old plow horse to be one of the best show jumpers ever, in the world. This is the story of "the Flying Dutchman". The author, "Elizabeth Letts's message is simple: Never give up, even when the obstacles seem sky-high. There is something extraordinary in all of us." ~Declan
